The Boston Bruins are ready for their upcoming Winter Classic showdown, and they certainly showed it Wednesday night against the Atlanta Thrashers. Tuukka Rask shut out the Atlanta attack at the Garden with 18 saves while the offense netted four goals, giving the Bruins some momentum as they approach the highly anticipated outdoor event on January 1st.
“Everyone was on board right from the beginning, really focused,” said captain Zdeno Chara. “Everybody was going every shift out there with a purpose.” Byron Bitz opened the door for the B’s with the initial goal 6:33 into the first period, followed by an additional two courtesy of Marco Sturm and Steve Begin. The second block was quiet until Patrice Bergeron found the net three minutes before the start of the third. From there it was all defense to close it out for Boston. Don’t miss your chance to see the Bruins take on the Philadelphia Flyers at Fenway Park!
