Thomas, Bruins Blank Senators

Tim Thomas stopped everything in sight as the Boston Bruins went on to defeat the Ottawa Senators 2-0 yesterday at Scotiabank Place. The contest marked the veteran All-Stars tenth consecutive shutout against Ottawa. “Oh, that’s 10 in a row? I had no idea,” said Thomas. “I didn’t know it was like that. I don’t know — you know, I like the nice crisp air when we come visit here. When you step outside the hotel I think this has the cleanest-smelling air around, I don’t know if that has something to do with it.”

SenatorsĀ Goalie Brian Elliot collected 27 saves himself while holding the B’s scoreless through the first two periods. Patrice Bergeron found the net early in the third block, followed by a Marco Sturm score with seven minutes to go in regulation. From there Thomas was able to hold the Senators struggling offense as he had been all game.

“I think both goalies played extremely well,” said Bruins captain Zdeno Chara. “It was a really tight game and we just stayed patient and eventually scored those goals.” The Bruins will next host the Atlanta Thrashers tomorrow night at 7:00 PM. Boston Bruins tickets are now available!
