Boston Opera House to Host The Lion King

Disney’s classic Broadway version of The Lion King is reaching out to major North American cities from now until July of 2010. The casts are currently performing at the Minskoff Theatre in New York City and the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio, TX. The sensational performance will be showcased in Boston starting February 16th at the Boston Opera House. Other cities scheduled to play host include Des Moines, IA, Hartford, CT, Madison, WI, Costa Mesa, CA, and Portland, OR.

Based on the 1994 Disney animated film, the musical first hit Broadway in 1997 at the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis, MN. The following year the production went on to win six Tony Awards in categories that include ”Best Musical,” “Best Direction,” and “Best Choreography.” Legendary singer-songwriter Elton John took home a Grammy for “Best Musical Show Album” when the animated feature was released. The Broadway show notched him a Tony nomination for “Best Musical Score.”

The Lion King is filled with unique puppets and masks, leaving the audience to put their imagination to the test.  Don’t miss out on one of the most successful Broadway Productions of all time when it arrives in your area!
