Knicks Fall to Celts in OT

Posted by Ace Staff on November 23rd, 2009 in Sports

Kevin Garnett broke the final tie in overtime at the buzzer, nailing the go-ahead jump shot from the top of the key for the Boston Celtics to defeat the New York Knicks 107-105 last night at Madison Square Garden. Paul Pierce led Boston with 33 points, playing decoy in the final possession with the assist to the wide open KG. “I knew they were going to sort of follow Paul and he’s going to draw a lot of attention,” said Garnett, “and I just had to make the shot.”

New York was up seven in the fourth quarter before the Celtics were able to come back and force the extra time. After losing to the Orlando Magic Friday night, the Celtics found themselves struggling against a Knicks team with just three wins this regular season.

“We played better today. Not the way we’d like to, of course, but better,” said Pierce. “We’re going to build on that. We’re still a work in progress.” Rajon Rondo was one rebound away from a triple-double with 14 points and 10 assists. Kendrick Perkins had a huge night for Boston with 16 points and 13 boards. Al Harrington netted 30 points for New York along with David Lee and Nate Robinson’s 41 combined.

The C’s are set to host the Philadelphia 76ers Wednesday, November 25th at 7:30 PM. Boston Celtics tickets are now available!
