Rajon Rondo dished out 17 assists and nine points to lead his Boston Celtics past the Detroit Pistons 109-86 yesterday at The Palace of Auburn Hills. He also produced a triple-double with 24 assists in Friday’s win over the New York Knicks to total at 67 through Boston’s first four games of the season. “He’s unbelievable. He played the perfect floor game tonight,” said captain Paul Pierce after the game. “He had 17 assists and no turnovers. You can’t get any better than that.”
The Celtics were in control early on with the 57-44 lead in the first half. Kevin Garnett led the balanced scoring attack with 22 points. Jermaine O’Neal, Glen Davis and Semih Erden split the work down low for 24 points collectively.
“We knew we had an advantage with Kevin in the post, so we were going to try to exploit that,” Rivers said. “They didn’t try to do much trapping, and the few times they did, we did a great job of moving the ball to the open man.” Next on schedule for the C’s are a pair of home contests against the Milwaukee Bucks and Chicago Bulls November 3rd and 5th. Boston Celtics tickets are now available!
