For the fourth time this season, a Patriots game was determined in the last two minutes. For the first time, however, they won. The game ended when Patriot’s Rob Ninkovich knocked the ball out of Mark Sanchez’s hand in overtime, recovered the fumble, and ended the game with a 29-26 win.

The Patriots, now 4-3, moved to first place in the AFC East this past Sunday. The day started with four teams, the New York Jets, the Buffalo Bills, and the Miami Dolphins all tied atop the division at 3-3. The Jets and the Bills lost and the Dolphins were idle. New England coach Bill Belichick remained subdued. “There’s a lot of football left to be played,” he said. “I don’t think anybody clinched anything today.”

The Jets, coming from a confidence-building win over Indianapolis, took a late lead in the fourth quarter by scoring 13 straight points in four minutes. Nick Folk made his fourth field goal after McCourty fumbled on a kickoff return, giving the Jets a 26-23 advantage with just 1:42 remaining in regulation. Brady, however, helped gain the Pats 54 yards in six plays and Gostkowski made a 42-yard field goal to force overtime.

“It comes down to a few plays,” Tom Brady said, acknowledging the closeness of the game. “We had opportunities last week at Seattle. We had opportunities against Baltimore. We had opportunities against the Cardinals, and when you make the plays you win the game. We did a good job when we needed to. It’s nice to pull out a close one.”

This upcoming week the Patriots play the St. Louis Rams at Wembley Stadium in London, UK. You can still get tickets here with Ace.
