Verlander, Tigers Force Game 6

Tigers ace Justin Verlander grinded through seven innings, allowing four runs on eight hits as the Detroit offense came to life in yesterday’s 7-5 victory over the Texas Rangers at Comerica Park. After building a five-run lead, Detroit held on despite Nelson Cruz’s record fifth home run of the series. Ryan Raburn and Delmon Young notched multiple hits for the Tigers. The ALCS will now shift to Arlington for Game 6 with Texas holding a 3-2 series advantage.

Detroit will rely on starting pitcher Max Scherzer (15-9) in Game 6 while the Rangers turn to 25-year old southpaw Derek Holland (16-5). “The Detroit Tigers are here for a reason. Tonight their backs were against the wall. They did what they had to do – catching a break included,” said Rangers manager Ron Washington. “Now we go home. We still feel good about ourselves.” Contact Ace with all MLB playoff ticket needs.
