This NFL Sunday mostly contradicted initial assumptions regarding certain teams. The New England Patriots seem to have worked out their offense just fine, posting 27 points against a tough Ravens defense. Jets rookie QB Mark Sanchez didn’t fare so well during his game 4 challenge verses New Orleans with no touchdowns and three interceptions. The 49ers proved themselves again as real contenders after dominating the Rams 35-0. The Manning brothers along with the Saints, Broncos, and Vikings remain undefeated. Chicago Bears 48, Detroit Lions 24 - Bears QB Jay Cutler threw for 141 yards and 2 TD’s from 24 total game receptions.
Cincinnati Bengals 23, Cleveland Browns 20 - Cincinnati was able to take the game in the final seconds of O.T. to avoid the rare tie.
Indianapolis Colts 34, Seattle Seahawks 17 - Indianapolis scored 21 first half points and never looked back from there.
New York Giants 27, Kansas City Chiefs 16 - The Chiefs scored 13 out of their 16 total points in the fourth quarter but it just wasn’t enough to catch New York.
Washington Redskins 16, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 13 - The Skins created all of their offense in the third quarter and left the Bucs with zero 2009 victories.
Jacksonville Jaguars 37, Tennessee Titans 17 - David Garrard helped the Jags notch their second win of the season with 323 passing yards and three TD completions.
Oakland Raiders 6, Houston Texans 29 - Houston scored 17 points in the second quarter and shut the Raiders down completely in the second half.
New England Patriots 27, Baltimore Ravens 21 - Baltimore drove down the field in the remaining minutes but failed to keep it going in the red zone, resulting in a six point Patriots win.
New Orleans Saints 24, New York Jets 10 - Drew Brees and crew came up with 17 first half points and never let the Jets gain any momentum from there.
Miami Dolphins 38, Buffalo Bills 10 - Miami scored 17 second quarter points on their way to proving themselves as third best in the AFC East.
Denver Broncos 17, Dallas Cowboys 10 - Denver QB Kyle Orton threw for 2 TD’s and 243 for Denver to remain undefeated.
San Francisco 49ers 35, St Louis Rams 0 - The 49ers offense scored 28 second half points as the defense shut out Kyle Bowler and the Rams.
San Diego Chargers 28, Pittsburgh Steelers 38 - Steelers RB Rashard Mendenhall produced two TD’s and 165 yards from his 29 game carries.
