Seguin, Bruins Agree to 6-year Extension

Posted by Andy on September 11th, 2012 in Sports

The Boston Bruins just recently signed forward Tyler Seguin to a six-year contract extension worth an average of $5.75 million per season. The new deal will begin after this year and will keep the 20-year old in a Bruins uniform through 2018-19.

The Bruins drafted Seguin second overall in the first round of the 2010 NHL entry draft. Last season he led Boston in goals with 29 and points with 67, becoming the youngest player to hold the team’s scoring title.

“I’m looking forward to hopefully playing in Boston for many years,” Seguin said at the team’s annual golf tournament this past Monday. “I want to stay here and start a life here. That’s what I’m looking for.” He also told reporters that he’s thought about joining another league in the event of a lockout.

“Obviously I want to be playing hockey,” he said. “NHL first, and then I’ve thought about AHL, thought about going overseas, but nothing I can confirm on right now.” Regular season Boston Bruins tickets are now available!
