Patriots Work Out Backup QB Kafka

Posted by Andy on September 4th, 2012 in Sports

The New England Patriots recently brought in free agent quarterback Mike Kafka to work out with the team on Tuesday. The Philadelphia Eagles had just released the 25-year old after opting to keep rookie Nick Foles and veteran Trent Edwards to back up starting QB Michael Vick. Kafka was drafted by the Eagles in the fourth round in 2010.

The Patriots are currently looking for a third option at the quarterback position to fall behind Tom Brady and Ryan Mallett since releasing Brian Hoyer last week. Kafka, a former Northwestern QB and the MVP of the 2010 East-West Shrine Game has just 107 NFL career passing yards. New England will open their regular season against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
