Celebrating 50 years of excellent rock and roll, The Rolling Stones have announced their first set of shows since 2007, featuring two at London’s O2 Arena and two at The Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. According to Billboard, the pair of shows in NY will be set to be performed before the end of the year. Talks of a tour have been going on for quite some time in the Rolling Stones to accompany their 50th anniversary but, plans were put on hold when guitarist Keith Richards health came into question. But recent reports about the band rehearsing songs from their entire catalog have proven that spirits are high with Richards saying, “That was a great time, I thought I’d be quite rusty, after all we hadn’t done it for a while, in five years or something. And amazing to hear it sounded as fresh as you could hope for. It was a great week”.
The band is planning to release their documentary “Crossfire Hurricane” on HBO. Directed by Brett Morgen the documentary will be a behind the scenes look at the rise of the band, with over 80 percent of the movie being never before seen footage. Morgen commented on the film saying that the film would offer “the audience to experience firsthand the Stones’ nearly mythical journey from outsiders to rock and roll royalty. This is not an academic history lesson…..It’s an aural and visual roller coaster ride.” Although the shows have not been confirmed, Mick Jagger tweeted this photo of himself in a Paris studio with the caption “Had fun in the Paris studio this week!”. Let’s hope these rumors come true and one of the greatest rock bands of all time gets to grace the fresh stage of the Barclay’s Center. One thing is for sure, when the concerts are officially announced you can count on Ace to provide you with the best seats in the house!
