Jason Terry Sees Celtics as Title Contenders

Veteran shooting guard Jason Terry is well known for expressing a great deal of confidence in teams he’s played for, and this year is certainly no different. The Celtics new acquisition has no doubt that Boston will once again be in contention for a title, backing up his statements with a tattoo on his left forearm depicting the Celtics leprechaun balancing the Larry O’Brien trophy.

Terry last inked a picture of the Larry O’Brien trophy on his body prior to the 2011 season, the year his Dallas Mavericks defeated the Miami Heat in six games to win the NBA championship. The 34-year old fully believes that the Celtics are a championship team but are in need of “a little jet fuel” in reference to his ”Jet” nickname.

“Obviously I did it with the Mavericks before the season the year we won it. So hopefully this year, again, we’ll have the luck of the leprechaun and we’ll get it done again,” said Terry. “I’m just excited to be in Celtic green. Again, the mystique, the championship pedigree, the heritage, just being in Boston, it’s going to be great for me. Coming from Dallas, that was a great franchise, but this organization here is first class and I just can’t wait to put that uniform on.”

Terry averaged 15.1 points and 3.6 assists in 31.7 minutes per game for Dallas last season. He and Courtney Lee will be called on to contribute immediately to fill the void left by Miami’s Ray Allen while Avery Bradley continues to recover from shoulder surgery. The Celtics will open their regular season at Miami Tuesday, October 30th.
