American singer Paula Abdul has just recently announced that she will not be returning as a judge for American Idols ninth season. She first publicly addressed her decision through her twitter page that states: “With sadness in my heart, I’ve decided not to return to #IDOL.” She continued to write on behalf of the show, saying “I’ll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all… being a part of a show that I helped from day 1 become an international phenomenon.” Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, Ryan Seacrest, and Kara DioGuardi have all agreed to contract terms for next season.
Abdul was not able to compromise with Fox producers, saying “I hope you can understand I can only return to Idol if the deal is fair.” Paula will certainly be missed, but the show must go on. Don’t miss the chance to see your favorite American Idols perform at the TD Banknorth Garden on Tuesday, August 18th. “American Idols Live” will feature fan favorites Kris Allen and Adam Lambert along with the talented Danny Gokey, Lil Rounds, and Allison Iraheta.
