The New England Revolution has found an alternative way to gain more fans for one of their upcoming home games. The club will host Gillette Stadium’s first ever boxing match immediately following their game against the Montreal Impact Sunday, August 12th.
Framingham’s own Danny O’Connor will be headlining the event. His opponent will be announced at a later date. O’Connor is 17-1 and was an alternate for the 2008 US Olympic boxing team. The event will also feature Boston Police officer and former New England Golden Gloves champion Bill Traft vs. mixed martial arts fighter John Downey.
“I’m honored and proud to be able to fight in front of the New England Revolution supporters,” said O’Connor. “They are the epitome of loyal fans and I’m proud to be part of the Revs family.” Check back for more New England Revolution and Gillette Stadium updates.
