Cliff Lee Set to Pitch Sunday at Fenway

Posted by Ace Staff on July 14th, 2010 in Sports

Ace pitcher Cliff Lee is scheduled to make his second start in Texas Rangers uniform against John Lackey and the Boston Red Sox Sunday, July 18th at Fenway Park. This will mark the fourth contest in this weekend’s three game series. Lee debuted for the Rangers on Saturday against the Baltimore Orioles, where he was handed the loss after letting up six runs on nine hits with two strikeouts. Despite the unpleasant stat line, he still threw a complete game on just 95 pitches. The 11-year veteran has a career record of 2-4 against the Red Sox.

Boston is currently five games out of first place in the AL East standings behind the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays. In light of their recent struggles, the All-Star break allowed for players to rest up for the home stretch of the regular season. Both Josh Beckett and Clay Buchholz plan to start on the hill for Triple-A Pawtucket within the next few days before returning to the club.

Red Sox manager Terry Francona is looking forward to their upcoming run at the division, saying “the first month of the season was really difficult for a lot of reasons, but we got through it. I know it’s not perfect, I recognize that, but the level of intensity and trying to do the right thing has been off the charts.” Tim Wakefield will take the mound tonight against the young Tommy Hunter, who’s been stellar all season long with a 5-0 record and 2.34 ERA. Red Sox vs. Rangers are still available with us at AceTicket.com!
