Jarrod Saltalamacchia belted a tying solo homer in the seventh inning to spark Boston’s late game rally in Tuesday’s 5-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays at Fenway Park. The Sox came through with an additional four runs following Salty’s timely shot to left.
“He’s playing a confident brand of baseball because he believes in himself and he’s a talented player,” said manager Bobby Valentine. “Some things that might have haunted his past seem to be gone and he’s just playing the game of baseball. Looks good doing it.”
Daisuke Matsuzaka allowed a homerun in the first inning but settled down from there, holding the Blue Jays scoreless through the next five innings. Boston will host Toronto once more this afternoon before traveling west to Seattle and Oakland for seven games. Boston Red Sox tickets are now available!
