Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge remains hopeful that free agents Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen will be back in Boston at the start of next season. Garnett is currently pondering retirement and both him and Allen will have plenty of offers thrown their way come July 1st when teams can begin negotiations with other free agents.
“We’re having a conversation with Kevin, but we don’t have any answers on whether he’s coming back or not,” Ainge said in a recent interview. “I’ll know that by July 1. I’ll be in communication with him and I’ll have some sort of read on that and a better feel.”
It’s possible the Celtics could strike a deal with the Portland Trail Blazers for Jamal Crawford to fill the void left by Allen. They also have Avery Bradley coming off a breakout year and ready to start at the shooting guard position. “I have had conversations with Ray, yes,” Ainge said. “Not contract-specific, but just sort of what his hopes and future are, what he thinks about our team and would he like to come back and all those types of things.” Check back for more Boston Celtics updates here at AceTicket.com!
