With a record 500th consecutive sellout, the Boston Red sox defeated the Florida Marlins 6-1. Brad Penny won his 6th game of the season, further verifying why the Sox have one of the best starting rotations in the Major League. Penny struck out the first two batters of the game, Chris Coughlan and Ross Gload. Former Red Sox prospect Hanley Ramirez walked and Jorge Cantu hit a line drive to center field, where Jacoby Ellsbury misplayed the ball and tallied his first error of his career. This feat ended at 554 chances in 232 games.  Although he had the error, Ellsbury suppressed his off night with a homerun in the 7th inning over the bullpen. Struggling Dustin Pedroia cooled off his slump with 3 hits, 3 runs batted in, and 2 stolen bases. David Ortiz continued to rebound off of his early season skid, raising his average to .213 with a double and 3 runs. Red Sox nation received several gifts from the Red Sox organization, celebrating the remarkable sellout streak. Fans received hot dogs, tape measures, and baseballs. The night ended with a victory and a consummation that will be remembered in Red Sox history.
