Bruins Handle Canucks, Force Game 7

Posted by Ace Staff on June 14th, 2011 in Sports

The Boston Bruins offense ignited for four goals in the first period as goalie Tim Thomas collected 36 saves in last night’s 5-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks, evening the Stanley Cup Finals at three-games apiece with Game 7 set for this Wednesday back at Rogers Arena. “I’m proud of the guys,” said Mark Recchi, who delivered three assists. “We had our backs to the wall, we’ve been resilient all year, and we came out and had a great first period and did what we had to do tonight, and it comes down to Game 7. It’s one game now.”

Brad Marchand, Milan Lucic, Andrew Ference and Michael Ryder all found the net early on in the first block past Vancouver goaltender Roberto Luongo. After criticizing Thomas during his Game 5 post conference on Friday, Luongo was clearly unprepared to handle Boston’s initial pressure and was benched for the remainder of the contest.

“I don’t have to say anything to him,” said Canucks head coach Alain Vigneault. “He’s a professional. His preparation is beyond reproach, and he’s going to be ready for Game 7. It happened. There’s nothing we can do about it. We’ve already turned the page on that, and we’re going back home.” Bruins vs. Canucks Game 7 tickets are now available!
