Clay Buchholz racked up nine strikeouts while letting up just five hits and one run to lift his Boston Red Sox past the Miami Marlins 2-1 Tuesday night at Marlins Park. The 30-32 Red Sox snapped their recent-four game losing streak, still trailing the AL East leading New York Yankees by 6 1/2 games.

Buchholz is 4-1 with a 2.83 ERA over his last seven starts since May 11th. “A lot of work’s gone into it,” he said. “The first couple weeks out were pretty tough. I had to find a way to battle back and get through it, knowing that I’ve done it before.”

The game was held scoreless until the seventh inning when Boston’s Kelly Shoppach hit an RBI double and came home on a single by Mike Aviles. Logan Morrison followed up that inning with a leadoff homer but the Marlins failed to produce from there. Boston will battle Miami once more tonight before traveling to Wrigley Field to matchup against the Chicago Cubs for three games starting Friday, June 15th.
