New England Patriots captains Tom Brady, Jerod Mayo and Vince Wilfork led a group of 40 teammates through their second team offseason workout Thursday at BC’s Alumni Stadium. The players are expected to hold their third workout of the week Friday morning, and some will also join Brady later in the afternoon during his charity football game at Harvard.
“It’s huge for us to just come together,” said outside linebacker Rob Ninkovich. “Whenever this lockout is over with, if you don’t get together, that’s months of not being with your teammates. So it’s good to just kind of get a little jump-start on some things. Especially for the younger guys, it’s going to help them.”
Barring further NFL lockout disputes, the Pats will begin their preseason run Thursday, August 11th against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Gillette Stadium. They will kick off the 2011 regular season Monday, September 12th against the Miami Dolphins away at Sun Life Stadium. Check back for more New England Patriots offseason updates.
