Posted by Ace Staff on May 25th, 2010 in Concerts, Ticket Sales

After U2 frontman Bono recently underwent an emergency spine surgery following a back injury, it was announced that the North American leg of the band’s U2360° tour has been postponed. Bono was given doctor’s orders to complete an eight week rehabilitation program. The show dates are from June 3rd at Salt Lake City through July 19th at New Jersey’s Meadowlands Stadium, four in Canada and 12 in the US. It was confirmed this morning that the shows have been rescheduled for 2011. Live Nation encourages that ticket holders keep their tickets and assures that more information will follow shortly.

Speaking of the cancellation, Paul Guinness said, “For a performer who lives to be on stage, this is more than a blow… His concerns about more than a million ticket buyers whose plans have been turned upside down, we all share, but the most important thing right now is that Bono make a full recovery.”

Bono has also confirmed that the band was forced to cancel their headlining appearance at Glastonbury Festival in the UK June 23rd. In telling Michael Eavis, Bono said “I’m heartbroken. We really wanted to be there to do something special- we even wrote a song especially for the festival.” There has been no mention to whether Glastonbury has a backup headlining act.
