On Sunday night the Boston Bruins played with the intensity they lacked in the last 3 games. B’s captain Zdeno Chara led the way with two assists and dominant defensive play. Boston held Carolina to just 19 shots on goal, and swamped Hurricanes netminder Cam Ward with 40 shots. Carolina’s defense, who stopped 40 shots in the past two games, could only prevent 5 on Sunday. Boston’s superior physical play left the majority of the ice time on the Hurricanes end. “It was the only option we had, being down 3-1 and at home in front of our fans,” Chara said in a port-game press conference. “But we are in the same situation and are fighting for another day.”
The series moves to Carolina on Tuesday night. Though they have some momentum, the B’s will be facing elimination surrounded by a very loud and involved crowd at the RBC Center.
