Rajon Rondo led the Celtics with 29 points, 18 rebounds and 13 assists to earn MVP chants in yesterday’s 97-87 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 4 at the Garden. The four-year veteran is now second on the Celts career list with four triple-doubles in the playoffs behind Larry Bird’s 10. “I think it starts with Rondo. He’s kind of the engine that really gets them going,” said Cleveland’s LeBron James. “He does everything for them. His performance was unbelievable.
Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen netted 18 apiece with Tony Allen coming off the bench for 15 points and five rebounds. The C’s were able to hold LeBron to just 22 points while keeping the reserves to a combined 11. Boston was up nine at the end of the first block and kept the lead through the majority of the contest. The Cavs made a run in the third but the Celtics revamped in the fourth courtesy of Rondo, Allen and Glen ‘Big Baby’ Davis. Game 5 is scheduled for Tuesday in Cleveland.
