Mike Lowell and JD Drew came up with four hits apiece to power the Boston Red Sox past the LA Angels 17-8 Monday night at Fenway Park. The 12-14 Sox were due for some major offensive production after losing all three games in Baltimore this past weekend. “It was nice to have a night like that,” said Boston manager Terry Francona. “They felt good about themselves. A lot of good things happened from top to bottom.”

Kevin Youkilis gave the Sox the initial lead in the second with a solo shot over the Monster. Boston found themselves up 7-4 before batting through the order in the sixth inning for seven runs. Dustin Pedroia and Adrian Beltre homered during the mid-game surge. “We changed our mindset,” said Pedroia. “We needed to play well. We didn’t play well in Baltimore. We expected things to happen.”

Clay Buchholz let up four runs in 5 1/3 innings pitched. Delcarmen, Ramirez and Schoeneweis recorded the remaining outs to wrap the already out of reach contest. The Red Sox are scheduled to host the Angels three most times this week before welcoming in the New York Yankees for a three-game weekend series.
