With the Capitals beating the Rangers, the Carolina Hurricanes became the round 2 opponent for the Boston Bruins. The Hurricanes epic last-minute comeback in Tuesday night’s game stunned the odds-on favorite New Jersey Devils. Carolina finished the season with a 45-30-7 record, were led in points by LW Ray Whitney (77), and in goals by C Eric Staal (40). The Bruins swept the Canes in the season series, notching four wins. By Friday’s game time, the Bruins will have had a week off since their last contest.
