Tim Thomas was spectacular yet again for the Bruins with 26 saves, as they controlled the Montreal Canadiens in game four to sweep the series. With the win the Bruins will advance to the Eastern Conference semi finals for the first time in ten years. Michael Ryder led the offense with two goals and one assist. Phil Kessel and David Krejci scored the other two goals for Boston.
The Canadiens had the momentum early after Andrei Kostitstyn scored just 39 seconds into the game. It took until 17:25 for the B’s to earn their first goal, but followed it up shortly after to take the lead 2-1 going into the second period.
Bruins captain Zdeno Chara is enthusiastic but focused on the task ahead, saying “Obviously, the first year we didn’t make the playoffs and the second year we lost in Game 7, now this year we’re moving on to the second round but I don’t think, ‘This is it, we should be satisfied.’ We all know we have to go towards the goal and this is just the first step.”
