Bruins Fall to Sabres in Game 1

Posted by Ace Staff on April 16th, 2010 in Sports

Craig Rivet notched the go-ahead goal with six minutes left in the third period for the Buffalo Sabres to win over the Boston Bruins 2-1 Thursday at the HSBC Arena. The defensive battle in playoff atmosphere featured a pair of stellar games in net by Ryan Miller (39 saves) and Tuukka Rask (32 saves). “Whether you lose 10-1 or 2-1, it’s a loss,” said Bruins coach Claude Julien. “We played hard enough, we played well enough, but only one team’s going to come out with a win. They did tonight.” Boston will look to split tomorrow on the road before hosting the Sabres for two games starting Monday, April 19th.

In other recent Bruins news, the organization is set to pick second behind the Edmonton Oilers in the 2010 NHL Draft. General Manager Peter Chiarelli is very pleased for Boston to receive one of the top two prospects next year between Taylor Hall and Tyler Seguin. The B’s captured the high draft position by trading Phil Kessel to the Toronto Maple Leafs. There are mixed emotions as to whether the deal was worth completing. Boston players and fans alike will be able to gain further insight on the matter after their playoff campaign and upcoming offseason.

“People in Toronto have seen Phil and he’s a very good young player,” said Chiarelli. “Going into making this trade, you try to project where teams will finish and we made a projection and it wasn’t this high, but we’re going to get a very good player out of it, as did Toronto. The deal was emotional for a variety of reasons. There’s a lot of thought that goes into it from both sides, and we feel we got good consideration for it in light of the player we gave up.” The best deals for Boston Bruins playoff tickets can be found here at AceTicket.com!
