Thornton Returns, Bruins Edge Islanders

Posted by Ace Staff on April 7th, 2011 in Sports

Shawn Thornton returned to game action for the first time since recovering from a skate to the head last week, contributing the initial goal in the remaining seconds of the first block to lift his Boston Bruins past the New York Islanders 3-2 yesterday at the TD Garden. Michael Grabner scored two goals for New York in the midst of an offensive-heavy second period. Dennis Seidenberg and Gregory Campbell also scored for Boston just minutes apart.

“It’s nice to see Thornton and Campbell get rewarded,” said Bruins captain Zdeno Chara. “They’ve been really solid for us throughout the whole season and the energy line is so important going into the playoffs.” Boston is currently two points behind the Philadelphia Flyers at 45-24-11. Both teams have just two games left on the regular season schedule. Boston Bruins tickets are now available!
