The Boston Bruins faced off against the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday, coming away with the 3-2 win. Newly signed veteran goalie, Marty Turco, got the start for the Bruins and saved 25 of 27 shots on the night. The Bruins got goals from captain defenseman Zdeno Chara, unassisted, and from left wing Benoit Pouliot in the second period and added a third in the final period by right wing Brian Rolston. Pouliot and Rolston both had assists as well as two for center Chris Kelly.

Turco signed with the Bruins with goalie Tuukka Rask out with a lower abdomen/groin strain. He started the season in Austria and offers respite for goalie Tim Thomas during the long stretch of games so he can rest up for the playoffs.

The Bruins had 25 shots on goal and won 39 faceoffs. The Ducks scored their two goals by right wing Teemu Selanne, assisted by defenseman Cam Fowler and center Ryan Getzlaf, and defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky, unassisted.

The difference in the game was the disallowed goal scored by the Ducks that could have tied the game. It was called back because Ducks’ center Andrew Cogliano was in the blue paint by18 inches and interfered with Turco. Overall, it was a close, well-played game on both sides.

The Bruins are now 44-28-3 on the season with a 4-1 record in the past five games. This week, they’ll play two at home against the Tampa Bay Lightning and Washington Capitals with only seven games left during the regular season. Look for them to clinch a playoff spot and finish the season off strong with hopes to defend their Stanley Cup title.
