Bruins Handle Canadiens 7-0 at Home

Posted by Ace Staff on March 25th, 2011 in Sports

Bruins captain Zdeno Chara produced three assists as part of Boston’s 7-0 blowout over the Montreal Canadiens Thursday at TD Garden, putting them five points ahead of their longtime rivals in the Northeast Division with nine games remaining on the regular season schedule. Chara was the center of attention due to his hit on Max Pacioretty in their March 8th contest that sent the three-year veteran left-winger off the ice and into the hospital.

A game that was figured to become an all-out brawl turned into a decisive Boston victory with just one short scuffle between Gregory Campbell and Paul Mara. “I don’t know if there were any scores to be settled,” said Bruins forward Shawn Thornton. “We came to play. All the other stuff didn’t matter.”

The B’s took control early with Campbell, Johnny Boychuck and Nathan Horton scoring by the end of the first block for the initial three-goal lead. Campbell and Horton came through again in the midst of Boston’s 4-0 third period to put the game out of reach. The Bruins are next scheduled to host the New York Rangers this Saturday at 1:00 PM. Boston Bruins tickets are now available!
