Sox Deny Yankees In Second Spring Training Meeting

Posted by Ace Staff on March 15th, 2011 in Uncategorized

The Boston Red Sox bullpen allowed zero runs in six innings between Dennys Reyes, Jonathan Papelbon, Bobby Jenks, Hideki Okajima and Rich Hill to claim victory over the New York Yankees 2-1 in their second to last spring training contest Monday at City of Palms Park. Ex-Yankee Alfredo Aceves took the mound to start for Boston, letting up just three hits and one run in three innings of work.

“I thought all our pitchers did a good job, starting out with Alfredo,” said Red Sox manager Terry Francona. “He threw strikes, worked quick. He’s animated out there. He’s enthusiastic. He has three pitches he throws for strikes.”

The Red Sox won both meetings this spring against New York. The longtime rivals will meet again April 8th in Boston’s home opener. The Sox will begin their 2011 regular season in Arlington against the Texas Rangers for a three game series starting April 1st. Boston Red Sox tickets are now available!
