In his first appearance against the Sox, Jason Bay was met with jeers from Boston fans. The former Sox left fielder didn’t seem fazed by his former fanatics’ reaction. ”I thought it was a little harsh,” Bay told the Providence Journal’s Dan Barbarsi, smiling. “It was luke-warm, at best.” John Lackey, the Sox’s big free agent acquisition dominated Bay’s new team. Lackey needed only 30 pitches to get through his three innings, allowing just three hits and no runs. The Sox had their offensive contributions early and often, from from outfielders Jeremy Hermida, Mike Cameron, and JD Drew, giving the Sox an early lead the Mets could not overcome. The Sox travel to the Cardinals’ practice facility for a 1:05pm contest tomorrrow.
