The Chicago Blackhawks notched their 5th win in six games courtesy of Niklas Hjalmarsson, Dustin Byfuglien and Jonathan Toews scoring in the final period to defeat the Edmonton Oilers last night at the United Center. Following a scoreless first period, both rosters adjusted offensively to post two goals apiece. From there it was all Blackhawks dominating to further prove their squad as one of the NHL’s major championship contenders.
“The third period, that’s the way we can be,” said Toews. “I think we got our legs. The last two nights, we’ve played two teams everybody expects you to beat. There are 20-some games left, and you’ve got to focus on what you can do, no matter who you’re playing.” Chicago is scheduled to welcome the Vancouver Canucks on Friday as the Oilers travel back home to matchup with the Minnesota Wild.
