Kevin Garnett scored 24 points from 11-of-16 shooting with a side of 12 rebounds and six assists to lead his Boston Celtics to win over the Golden State Warriors 115-93 Tuesday night at Oracle Arena. Golden State kept up through the majority of the contest until the veteran Celtics lineup outplayed them in fourth quarter 27-15. Garnett, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Rajon Rondo and Glen Davis all finished in double figures for Boston. Rondo netted 10 of his 19 in the first quarter and distributed 15 assists in total.
Dorell Wright and Stephen Curry led the young Warriors squad in scoring with 19 and 18. “When they made their run, we kind of sunk our heads a bit,” said Curry. “We didn’t have the composure down the stretch to make plays.”
The recent Celtics victory marks the first of their four-game west coast road trip. Boston will next travel to Denver, Los Angeles and Utah before returning home Wednesday, March 2nd to matchup with the Phoenix Suns. “You lose the first game, you kind of lose your momentum and then you’re battling uphill,” said Pierce. “So it’s kind of good to get that first one and keep that momentum.” Boston Celtics tickets are now available!
