The Boston Bruins and defenseman Johnny Boychuk just recently agreed on a three-year contract extension. The five-year veteran is set to make $3.1 million, $3.4 million and $3.6 million over the terms of the new deal that also includes a limited no-trade clause.

Boychuk has three goals and seven assists for 10 points in 53 games this year. He may have landed a more lucrative deal with another team if he were to test the market as a free agent in July. It was clear during the negotiation process that Boychuk had no desire to look elsewhere.

“I’m obviously happy. It wasn’t really a big secret I wanted to stay here, so I’m just excited.” he said. “Boston as a city is probably the best place to play, and even though I haven’t played anywhere else, the fans are just so into it, they’re always cheering and it’s sold out every night. Why wouldn’t you want to stay here? I obviously don’t want to go anywhere else but here.”

Yesterday, the Bruins suffered a 3-0 loss to the Eastern Conference leading New York Rangers. They will kick-off their six-game road trip tonight at Montreal. Contact Ace with all Boston Bruins ticket needs.
