Celtics captain Paul Pierce nailed a 3-pointer from the right wing 1:37 into the third quarter to pass Larry Bird on the franchise’s list of all-time leading scorers during Boston’s 94-84 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats last night at TD Garden. Pierce finished with 15 points to bring his career total to 21,797. Only John Havlicek has scored more in team history with 26,395 points.
“We have great fans,” Pierce commented after the game. “They’ve seen it all from my younger days, from my trials and tribulations, to this point today and it’s a great honor just for them to be able to stand up and give me that type of ovation. Being a Celtic for all these years and understanding what it means to be a Celtic and the ups and downs you go through just to come to this point in your career, it means so much the support that they have given me over the years.”
Rajon Rondo paced the C’s with 14 assists and 10 points. Kevin Garnett controlled the inside game with 22 points and seven rebounds. Brandon Bass hit 5-of-8 from the field for 13 points during his productive 28 minutes on the floor. Boston has now won their last five games and will next challenge the Los Angeles Lakers at home tomorrow night. Find the best Boston Celtics ticket deals with us at AceTicket.com!
