Colts Defensive End Dwight Freeney has been struggling with ankle problems since their January 24th AFC Championship victory over the New York Jets. He was swarmed by reporters alongside fellow teammate Peyton Manning Monday afternoon at Super Bowl media day. Most questions directed towards Freeney were related to the third-degree ankle sprain he hopes to overcome by Sunday. The five-time Pro Bowler is doing his best to keep optimistic, saying “I’m day to day, and I see myself playing on Sunday.”
The Indianapolis coaching staff is certainly preparing to go on without their veteran DE on Sunday. Coach Jim Caldwell mentioned the fact that Freeney hasn’t been able to join his teammates in practice since their last home stand at Lucas Oil Stadium. “We’re preparing as if he is not going to play,” said Caldwell. “If we happen to get an opportunity to get him in there, we’ll do so.” Super Bowl XLIV tickets are still available with us at AceTicket.com!
