Defenseman Dennis Seidenberg fired in a slap shot from center ice 7:09 into the third period to cap Boston’s 4-3 comeback victory over the Ottawa Senators yesterday at TD Garden. What was supposed to be a play to push the puck into Ottawa’s zone became an unexpected score for the eight-year veteran.

“I don’t know if it was a lucky bounce or the way it came off of my stick,” said Seidenberg. “It just seemed to bounce off the ice and kind of was rising up and it was tough to read I guess for him and somehow it went in.”

Zdeno Chara punched in the first goal for Boston on a power play 11:57 into the first block. The Senators went on a run for three goals of their own before Milan Lucic came through for the B’s in the last minute of the second. Brad Marchand found the net early in the third to set the stage for Seidenberg in the end.

“We scored three 5-on-5 goals against a really good defensive team. 5-on-5 we were the better team, so it’s frustrating to lose this one,” said Ottawa RW Daniel Alfredsson. “I don’t know how we don’t win it.”  The Bruins will next host the Carolina Hurricanes tomorrow night. Boston Bruins tickets are now available!
