Jay-Z, Eminem Hope to Co-Headline at Fenway

Boston.com reported that rappers Eminem and Jay-Z have recently vocalized their desire to perform at Boston’s Fenway Park. The century-old ballpark will feature New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boyson Saturday, June 11th. The long list of artists to previously play Fenway include Bruce Springsteen, Jimmy Buffett, the Rolling Stones, Dave Matthews Band, the Police, Neil Diamond, Phish, Paul McCartney, Aerosmith and J. Geils Band.

Both Eminem and Jay-Z have had experience selling out major league ballparks. In 2010 Eminem headlined their September 2nd Detroit show at Comerica Park while Jay-Z headlined New York City’s Yankee Stadium on September 13th.

The veteran rappers have remained successfulthrough 2010 with a number of smash hits still present on the U.S. Billboard charts. Eminem’s Recoverywas the best-selling album of 2010 in the United States with 3.4 million units sold. Jay-Z’s 2009 Blue Print 3 project spawned singles “Run This Town” and “Empire State of Mind,” selling 476,000 copies in its first week in stores.
