Paul Pierce netted 9 of his game-high 24 points during an 18-3 third quarter run to lift his Boston Celtics past the New Jersey Nets 89-70 yesterday at TD Garden. The depleted Nets were missing guard Deron Williams (sore right ankle), forward Kris Humphries (sore left shoulder) and center Brook Lopez (broken right foot). They still managed to hold a one-point lead at the half before a healthier Boston rotation took control at the end of the third quarter.

Brandon Bass came off the bench for 15 points and 13 rebounds. Kevin Garnett finished with 14 points and 12 boards. Avery Bradley drained his first career 3-pointer as part of his 11-point breakout performance.

“We just played better, played harder, executed better,” Celtics head coach Doc Rivers said of the team’s adjustments. “I really thought in the first half our defense was terrific; our offense was horrendous.”

The Celtics have won four straight since dropping their first three games on the road. They are next scheduled to host the Indiana Pacers this Friday night. The defending champion Dallas Mavericks will then make their way to TD Garden to challenge the C’s Wednesday, January 11th. Boston Celtics tickets are now available!
