The Atlanta Thrashers are one of the most recent NHL expansion teams. The Thrashers joined the league in 1997. Although the Thrashers have yet to make the playoffs in prior seasons, they are currently 1st in the Southeast Division and have clinched their 1st ever playoff berth.
