Information

Atlanta Hawks information, The Atlanta Hawks began play in 1946. They play in the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference. Their only NBA Championship came in 1958. The Hawks made the playoffs last season for the first time since 1995. After barely squeezing into post-season play with a 37-45 record, the 2008 Hawks took the NBA Champion Boston Celtics to 7 games in the first round.

The 2009 season came with improved results for Atlanta. After ending the regular season at 47-35, they defeated the Miami Heat in seven games. Advancing to the second round for the first time since 1998, they were matched up against the big bad Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavs made it a quick series, sending Atlanta home after just four games.

Even though the Hawks didn't finish out as strong as they'd hoped for, they have a lot to look forward to for next season. They have leaders Mike Bibby and Josh Smith back for another year. They re-signed center Zaza Pachulia, and recently traded guards Acie Law and Speedy Claxton to the Golden State Warriors for offensive powerhouse Jamal Crawford. The 2010 Hawks will definitely find themselves back in the playoffs again with hopes to advance in the later rounds.
