Aretha Franklin Information, Aretha Louise Franklin is an American singer/songwriter most commonly known as 'The Queen of Soul.' Franklin didn't just produce soul music, as she ventured into other genres such as jazz, rock, blues, pop, R&B, and gospel. In her longtime legendary career she has won a total of 20 Grammy Awards. Including her #1 hits 'Respect,' and 'I knew You Were Waiting (For Me),' Franklin has created 45 Top 40 hits. In 1987 she became the first female artist to enter the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. At the age of 67, she can still sing better than ever. She was the featured singer at the 2009 Presidential inauguration ceremony for Barack Obama. This fall she plans to perform at Radio City Music Hall in New York City and at the Wang Theater in Boston.
