ALDS Information

The American League Division Series serves as the opening playoff rounds for all AL teams that qualify for MLB post-season play. Created after the 1993 season, the series features the winners of the three AL divisions and one wild-card team. The most amount of ALDS matchups between teams is four. The Boston Red Sox faced the Los Angeles Angels in 2004, 2007, 2008, and 2009. The Division series is organized through a 2-2-1 format. The higher seed plays at home for Games 1 and 2, and the lower seed hosts Games 3 and 4. If necessary, the teams return to the higher seeds stadium for the deciding game. This year's round will feature the Texas Rangers vs. Tampa Bay Rays and the New York Yankees vs. Detroit Tigers.
