Alan Jackson was born on October 17th, 1958 in Newnan, Georgia. He is a very well known American country singer and songwriter that was influenced by the new traditional country sound of the 1980's. He was one of the most popular country singers in the 1990's because he blended both honky-tonk and mainstream country sounds into many of his own musical hits.
Jackson has enjoyed continued success into the 2000's as his music has adapted to the more mainstream country acts that were almost moving towards the pop music sound. After the September 11, 2001 attacks, Jackson released "Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)" as a tribute song. It became a hit single and propelled him into the mainstream spotlight for months to follow. He debuted the song at the 2001 Country Music Association Awards.
Jackson's newest album, Good Time, is supposed to be released on March 4, 2008. The album's first single, "Small Town Southern Man," has been playing on the radio since late November, 2007.
