Air Supply is a sock rock duo that formed in 1975. The band currently consists of two members but at one time had as many as five. Graham Russell is the lead guitarist from England while Russell Hitchcock is on lead vocals from Australia.
While in Australia in 1975, the two met playing in an Andrew Lloyd Weber musical production of Jesus Christ Superstar. Soon after, they formed Air Supply as a five-man group. After performing locally, the group was asked to be the opening act for Rod Stewart in his Australian tour. Stewart was so impressed with the way the group performed on stage that he personally asked them to stay on and be his opening act for his United States tour.
